Conference housing accommodations can be offered in four of our residence halls: Woodward Hall, University Square Apartments, Talbott Apartments, and 15 Washington Street Apartments. Our buildings include either suite-style or apartment-style accommodations. Amenities found in most buildings include a TV lounge, 24 hour computer lab, laundry facilities, vending machines, and lounges on each floor.
There are large meeting spaces on our campus that can be reserved for conference use including Stonsby Lounge, University Square Multi-Purpose Room and, the largest, Stonsby Commons, which can accommodate about 200 guests and features a 10 foot projection screen and entertainment system.
The buildings are staffed 24 hours a day with a team of housing staff members that can assist with everything from directions to presenting evening and late night programming for the members of your group. We cater to every group individually and will gladly make special arrangements that will meet your specific needs.
Rutgers Newark is an excellent place for groups to have conferences, workshops and conduct research. An excellent selection of services, activities, programs and facilities are available on campus and in the adjacent community. Rutgers Newark is in the University Heights section of downtown Newark, 20 minutes from Manhattan via car or New Jersey Transit train. With the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the Newark Symphony Hall, the nationally renowned Newark Museum, and a rich cultural heritage, the city of Newark offers many opportunities for fun and enrichment.
Local points of interest found near University Heights are three institutions of higher education, the Liberty Science Center and the Meadowlands Sports Arena. Our on-campus housing facilities can put your conference guests at ease next door at the Robeson Campus Center, which has full conference services, including meeting and banquet rooms, diverse food options and all audio-visual needs.
