Every year the Office of Housing & Residence Life employs close to 100 staff members in both professional and paraprofessional roles.  Listed below are a few of the positions that may become available.  For questions regarding any aspect of our staff selection process, please review the below information.

Undergraduate Positions

JOIN THE FORCE! BECOME A RESIDENT ASSISTANT

The Office of Housing and Residence Life is looking for motivated and enthusiastic undergraduate and graduate student leaders to serve as Resident Assistants (RA) for the 2018-2019 Academic Year. The RA position is a live-in student leadership position responsible for assisting the Office of Housing and Residence Life. The duties consist of, but are not limited to:  serving office hours, review and prepare office keys, participating in an on-call duty rotation, checking in/out residents, and customer service relations, planning and participating in campus events, attending all training sessions, and completing monthly health and safety inspections.

We are looking for applicants who:

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Personal qualities of maturity, self-reliance, motivation, initiative, responsibility, self-esteem and integrity. 
  2. Strong interpersonal skills.
  3. Leadership potential.
  4. Good conduct standing with the University and the Office of Housing & Residence Life (no current disciplinary probation or outstanding judicial fines).
  5. Have and maintain a minimum of 2.50 Cumulative/Semester GPA at the undergraduate level and 3.2 at the graduate level.
  6. Be a full-time, matriculated, confirmed Rutgers University – Newark student.  Resident Assistants are specifically required to make appropriate academic progress by completing and passing at least 12 credit hours per semester while they are employed.
  7. Be at least of sophomore standing at the time the agreement becomes effective.
  8. Must have personal cell phone for contact in case of emergency.
  9. No prior housing/on-campus living experience required.

Graduate Positions
